28 Nov 2015. <GB-ENG> Leicester, Leic —

A quiet day. We spent a bit of time up in Welcome Break, the restaurants in the service area. They have good WiFi there, so we sere able to catch up a little on our internet backlog. The view over the M1 is quite spectacular, as the restaurants are in a bridge across the motorway.

We then drove into Leicester, were looking for a Tesco, as Suzie was sure she would get a cheap jacket there — but the Tescos we found had no parking for vans anywhere nearby, and the search took us right through the heart of Leicester, with the pre-Christmas sopping crow3ds and the traffic associated with this!

We then started checking out a couple of the serviced laundromats we had discovered on the internet. Not much luck — the first had nobody in attendance, and the second was AWOL entirely. Oh well, better luck tomorrow! Still looking for a Tesco, we went to Beaumont Leys shopping centre, where we had a very late lunch — it was already getting dark! And Suzie found a jacket in Peacock's (a cheap clothing store), who were having a Black Friday sale with everything 20% off! Good timing! We did a bit of posting — there's a convenient post office in the shopping centre.

And then back to Leicester Forest East service area on the M1 for another night. We watched "War of the Birds", a film they were showing at Bletchley Park, about the carrier pigeon "war" during WWII.

Distance driven — today, 20 miles ( 33 km ); to date, 30,165 miles ( 50,156 km )
