23 Sep 2015. <NL> Amsterdam —
The day outside was predicted to be somewhat like yesterday — cloudy all day, scattered showers in the morning, and more serious rain in the afternoon. Warren was a little under the weather, so decided to spend the day in the van, mainly sleeping — a good day for it!

Suzie, on the other hand, decided to brave the weather and go across the IJ to familiarise herself with the old city. She took the ferry, then went walking — and, boy, did she walk! She went into the Basilica Sancti Nicolai, built in the late 1800s very near the station. She walked many of the streets and by some of the canals. She walked slowly along Geldersekade, where we had been hurrying in the rain yesterday.

Basically, she just enjoyed the atmosphere. She went via Nieuwmarkt square and the Waag, Amsterdam's oldest non-religious building. She went back to Damm Square, where there is a large department store where she was hoping to buy a Paperblanks notebook to match one she already had — unfortunately, they didn't have it. She took advantage of Warren's absence to wander leisurely through the shops Amsterdam has on offer.

The rain came back as Suzie was on her way back to the van. Warren, meantime, had had a quiet day languishing on his sickbed!

Distance driven — today, nil; to date, 28,995 miles ( 46,663 km )
