Not much to report today. Left our overnight spot amid the Daleks and drove into the nearby town of Hillegom. We had transferred some money between banks about four days ago, and up to yesterday it had not appeared in its destination. We were getting a bit worried, so we needed a Macca's stop to check the bank accounts. This McDonald's had the most delightful location, right on the edge of a canal. We checked the bank and — finally — the transfer had gone through. We can now use our Visa card with impunity.
We went into Hillegom itself to find a shop — mainly to get some bread for lunch. The bread choices there were a little different, and Warren came out with a loaf of Spelt bread, which turned out to be delicious. Took a couple of photos in the pretty little town before we left.
With the checking of the bank and the shopping, we decided that the day was sufficiently gone to pull in for the night before we reached Amsterdam (the tightwads also saving another night's camp fees — it's been a month since we've done anything but wild camping!), and pulled off into a large parking area off the A4 near the Schiphol Airport. The planes were far enough away not to be a nuisance, and we settled in — a little early — for a quiet night.
Distance driven — today, 24 miles ( 38 km ); to date, 28,995 miles ( 46,663 km )
So long as you are safe tightwads what the heck. That tall tangled statue LOOKED INTERESTING HAVE SEEN A SIMILAR ONE RE THE MUSICIANS OF BREMEN.
ReplyDeleteSorry I hit caps lock too often- am too tired to undo/redo tonight. Glad you didn't have to sit on the side walk going "Je fame, je fame" as my damned daughter did to me, flopping down in a doorway in Jetty Road, Glenelg to do it. She is a consummate actress that one, I can assure you, but with a brain like mine, a scatter-bomb, she wouldn't take direction very well. Hmm!!. I just pretended I didn't know her but a coupla people gave her some bucks I think! Anyway, problem solvered and spelt bread too-you can get it here too you know. Its an old pure hard wheat flour. Love ya.'Night Cathy
