Another travel day, towards Neuschwanstein. It's over 300 km from Heidelberg to Füssen and Schloß Neuschwanstein, so we had another day of travel ahead of us. We planned to stop just short of Füssen tonight, to give us an easy run into Schloß Neuschwanstein on the morrow.
Near Stuttgart, we passed near the airport. The planes overhead reminded us that we need to arrange our plane tickets home before long. Oh well, we'll soon get on to that little task!
It was raining pretty heavily, and the windscreen wiper on Warren's side has been split for some time and not doing its job very well. It made taking photos very different — but some of the effects were somewhat interesting!
Finally we stopped to shop, and Warren found a set of wiper blades for the VW T4. We stopped off for lunch in a rest stop, and he took advantage of the stop to change the wiper blades. No excuses now!
A bit more driving, a lot more rain, and we came to a rest stop, Rottachtal-West, only about 30km short of our destination, Schloß Neuschwanstein. We were near the road, but the angle we were parked and the rain that was still falling seemed to muffle the noise of the traffic. We had a good night!
Distance driven — today, 150 miles ( 241 km ); to date, 27,605 miles ( 44,426 km )
Yesterday's Jesuit church was rather lovely-not so many distractions just an orderly beauty. Also loved the baboon. The love locks appear to be a European tradition. I remember reading somewhere they had to get rid of some off a bridge somewhere because they were wearing it down ?Italy. Got the 2cnd Marigold for Merry. She loved the first. However this is blue ray and to get it onto DVD we have to stream it after down loading it etc etc so it's going back to BIG W tomorrow since none of us (even Sophie) has the technical knowhow of how to do it, though Sophie explained it to us! Hope they will accept it back un packaged! Gertie finds herself in interesting spots. The trucks must have been quiet when they left! Nice to see you have lots of interesting stopovers. It's no wonder Europe is so green with all the rain. Travel safely all of you, love Cathy
