Drove down into Ashford. We tried to find a McDonalds — there was one at the International Terminal Outlet Centre, which is rather spectacular and innovative, with numerous individual stores in container-like boxes, the whole sitting beneath a complex of sails. The complex is sites right beside the International Railway Terminal (which feeds trains to France via the Eurotunnel), But the Macca's there was just a food court deal, with no power. So we went off to find another.
Gertie was booked in to JCB Volkswagen for a service and for an MoT test from about 12:30 onwards. We sat in the client area, comfortable, with good internet while this was done — and while the rain poured down outside! A wonderful day to do what we were doing!
Turns out that Gertie failed her MoT, as some of her wiring had deteriorated and needed replacement, and the report implied that there needed to be some welding done at the back, so we arranged to come back tomorrow for a similar day of writing and internet for us. The staff were delightfully friendly, so we were happy to spend the day in their company!
Distance driven — today, 33 miles ( 53 km ); to date, 28,629 miles ( 46,074 km )
Gertie is doing a sterling job really-so the minor hitches shouldn't trouble you too much. Alfie sends her his love and says he needs work too but his owners are too mean to do it! Also the head mechanic has now left the firm so we'll just have to cross our fingers more. Anyway, better to bbe journalling and safe off the road on a wet day I think. love ya, cathy
