14 Jun 2015. <TR> Kirrikkale; Ankara; Gölbası —
Left our deserted garage on the D-765, aiming for Ankara.

One of the derelict petrol stations we've seen all through Turkey

These spring-sourced water stations are all over the place

Any time, any place, it's time for çay

We shopped in a big shopping centre in Ankara

Drove through Kirrikale, and then through Ankara, and on to Hotel Ulasan, near Gõlbaşı, about 15km to the south of Ankara. We got there at about 2.15pm and settled in. This is a fairly new campsite, associated with a four-star hotel. Our aim today was to catch up on a little computer time, and then to go into Ankara tomorrow.

We met a young Dutch couple in the campsite who told us how to get into the city tomorrow. They are in the first few weeks of an overland journey via the 'Stans' (except for Pakistan, which is currently somewhat risky) and through to China, then down to Malaysia. They have a long way ahead of them, but a magnificent adventure!

Must mention that the Hotel Ulasan campsite has its own resident puppy, somewhat younger than Turka, but evidently a lot more loved!

Distance driven — today, 96 miles ( 154 km ); to date, 22,099 miles ( 35,565 km )
