8 Jun 2015. <TR> Göreme, Cappadocia —
We have internet for the first time in nearly a fortnight, so we decided to have a day in, relax, and start to catch up on the blog.

We are at Kaya Camping, with a wonderful view out our front window, down the valley to Göreme, so we're not exactly slumming it!

The Turkish general election has been amazing. We have been privileged to be here while such a game-changing event has taken place. The President, Recep Erdogan, and his party, Justice and Development Party (AKP), have lost their controlling majority for the first time in 13 years, so they won't be able to push through constitutional changes which would have entrenched their power in the parliament. And the new pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has gained 13% of the vote, getting a foothold in the parliament. The next few months will be very interesting!

And that's all folks!

  1. Mm. I wonder whose army will slaughter the opposition first? The view is spectacular as you say. By the way, were those merinos in the photo yesterday WARREN? Not so much to take in. Nice rest day. Loves ya CJ
