Woke up early, about 6am, to the sound of balloons overflying Kaya Camping again. In the daily paper, we found out that balloons contributed €85 million to Cappadocia's economy in 2014, and that there are 200 balloons flying the skies of Cappadocia!
From here, we had another day of driving, , with fascinating things to see, out through Nevşehir, northwards towards Kirrikkale. We passed through one town with the unenviable name of Babapınarçiftliğli!
We ultimately found a deserted Starpet garage on the D-765 — the number of deserted, derelict petrol outlets here is absolutely astounding — where we stopped off for a quiet night's hibernation.
Distance driven — today, 98 miles ( 158 km ); to date, 22,003 miles ( 35,411 km )
Bit of an empty day for you really, but I think a good one. Why are there deserted petrol stations everywhere Suzie? The cars population doesn't seem too huge in the country,The skies are wonderful as usual. The lumpy sand castles everywhere (yes I know, 'fairy chimneys')
ReplyDelete. And what on earth were those farmers doing? planting or tilling? looked awful soil to me. The hot air balloons look beautiful don 't they? Oh well, Back to work. Love and be safe, Caathy
