22 Apr 2015. <RS> Novi Sad; Fruška Gora National Park —
We left our little picnic spot on the tollway, but not before a little floor show. Apparently we weren't too far from an army camp, because a car pulled in near us, and two of the passengers got out and, under NCO supervision from the driver, changed from civvies into army uniform, completely oblivious of the entertaining show they were giving to a couple of tourists!

We turned northwards towards Novi Sad, but didn't get far before we got a lesson in country trains — we were stopped at a boom gate to let a train through — no problems there — but it was at least ten minutes after the train went through, with no other trains in sight, that the boom gates finally lifted! While stuck there, we noticed that an enterprising beekeeper had moved a set of mobile hives (mounted in the back of a truck) into a likely blossom area! Full marks to him!

Funny things they grow in their farmland!

We drove up through Ruma (Рума), a thriving county town, and up into Novi Sad (Нови Сад), Serbia's second city after Belgrade (Београд).

We looked for a camping site there, with no success, but in a new file Warren has downloaded for the Garmin we found a camping site at Fruška Gora National Park (Eko Kamping Odmorište Fruška Gora), not far away, so we went out there and took up residence. Turns out that the campsite is just newly open for the camping business — it has been a picnic spot for a long time, but the facilities for camping are brand new. In fact, we arrived on the day before they actually opened up officially for camping!

Distance driven — today, 76 miles ( 122 km ); to date, 18,708 miles ( 30,108 km )

  1. First off the mark hmm? You want to give theem a visitors book with 2 OZ's at the head of the list. terrible disasgter in Nepal. They thinbk the techtonic plate will have pushed Everest egven higher as well as avalanching half the mountaain down on unfortunate climbers. One Melbourne woman dead. Over 3000 dead I think, thousands injured, thousands homeless and thousands missing. The earth has its own ways and we cannot understand it. Must be like when we wipe out colonies of ants, flies and cockroaches and fish really. Must check to see what our Church ladies are going to do and join in that. They ae great old troupers! Poor nepal. Went over to the ethics lecture to find it was cancelled, so went to the Grad research office to check out what was what. Found half my bookings weren't listed, so we got that fixed. They are lovely to us at Flinders. Got my preparatory proposal for research literature search off to the supervisors today. Dear God! What a huge job. I've only used older literature so I don't get bored when I do the real thing and I'll also know what's new.. Am starting on research methods tomorrow. I went to a lecture the other day. The lecturer explained that when we watch Jamie Oliver cook he first gives us a recipe. That's our method to get the finished result. But as he actually cooks and does a bit of this and less of that and lots of that put in somewhere, that's the methodology. The analogy was so clear that I reckon I'll be able to knock it off tomorrow. Also delving into Michel Foucault whom I adore as my gazing philosopher also Weber, Patricia Smith and Goffman for writing the social. Wot fun! Have a good day. Will save the next one for tomorrow. I loves ya Porgies, Cath travel safely and with love.
