8 Apr 2015. <HR> Porec, & Selce, Istria —
Left Rovinj, driving north to Poreč where there is a camping shop stocking chemicals for our toilet. On the way, we were driving on a back road by Lim Fjord when we saw a viewing stand behind a group of roadside stalls. We went up for the view, and then on the way back to the van we succumbed to the salesmanship of a couple of the stallholders, coming away with a selection of local liqueurs and a local Parmesan cheese.

There's a lot of road work going on!

Just a little 5km tunnel!

The Adriatic near Rijeka

Rijeka looks lovely from a distance ...

... but don't know if we could live there!

We drove up to Poreč, went in to a Billa store, only to find the fruit and vegetables there fit only for stock feed. We did get to the camping shop and found what we needed, and then we decided to set our sights for Nacionalni Park Palenica, quite a way south, where there is a cave and presumably other sights to see. So, from here, it was another travel day, back past Rijeka and then turning southwards driving along the most spectacular coastline.

Cafe Kiss

We got to Selce, just south of Crikvenika, and about 50km south of Rijeka, where we called into Cafe Kiss, again right on the Adriatic, for a coffee. We went into a market on the way back to the van and were more successful with our shopping, and then we decided to drop into an Autocamp for the night. We were at Autokamp Selce — good clean toilets and showers, WiFi to the site, and our assigned plot was within an easy stone's throw of the blue, blue, crystal clear Adriatic! And our fellow-campers were not restricted only to humans!

Distance driven — today, 104 miles ( 167 km ); to date, 17,349 miles ( 27,921 km )
