23 Apr 2015. <RS> Fruška Gora National Park —

Not much to say about today. We found the location at Fruška Gora so pleasant and relaxing, that we decided to take a day off and just enjoy its gentle ambience, to the constant sound of warbling birds. Magic. Also took the opportunity to spring-clean the van (it is spring after all!) and to pack a few boxes for mailing home. Because we're staying a little longer, we took the time to move the van to a point where we could hook up to the electricity — if we have a couple of days without driving, we don't get the chance to charge the computers without risking the charge on the van battery, so we like to hook up to power from time to time.

We also met a lovely Dutch couple who are taking in Serbia — but being a bit more physical about it than we are, as they are parking their van and then cycling all about!

Beehives nearby

Distance driven — today, nil; to date, 18,708 miles ( 30,108 km )

  1. I must have read your minds. Glad you are getting a couple of days for rest. I have to write all day tomorrow, so am sending this today instead. The area you are in looks nice. Are you troubled by insects where you are or do the warbling birds gobble them all up. Couldn't work out the yellow flower. A weed or a wild flower? It looked pretty anyway. The beehives look nice and colourful. Ours here are all white.. I reckon the Nepalese might like some of that knitting you do Suzie, poor things. I'm selling a couple of antiques and giving them some cash then helping my lovely old friends in the church women pack boxes for the kids and birthing packs I think. I reckon its our damned tectonic plate pushing north west which it is meant to do. pity it didn't shake Indonesia into having some mercy for others and losing its own double standards. 3 years for killing all those people in Bali and the firing squad for 2 reformed prisoners who have done a great deal of good in the prison because they tried to smuggle drugs OUT of the country. Oh well, C'est la vie1 Love Cathy

  2. Was hoping for another blog. it's 0230 and I've got a lousy sore throat and the sniffles as well. Just as well I'm not carrying your bags!. Went two brilliant workshops today and actually learnt about signing on to Web of Science, Google scholar and Scopus. I managed to get a password for W of S they accepted.after 20 tries. May be going to Melbourne for a Mid conference next month (small grant given if I do!!) We have to provide a list of all the sourcess of finding our journals. Most of mine came from find it @ flinders, and all this by Monday!! With 14 cram full Lever Arch files I don't think I can, So I'll try to do about 50 for the woman who is doing the lecture and provide a SPIDER thing about the thesis. As well, I have to get my method and methodology chapter in and start copy editing a Chinese friend's thesis, chapter by chapter! Today am off to observe an open teaching classsroom in biology as preparation for teaching at Flinderss next Semester. So I'm busy. Anyway, That's me. I'm just bugging you because I didn't find a new blog -fix. But I went right back to the beginning of the Adriatic trip and rebrowsed. We got your post card of Rovinj in the twilight yesterday, thanks. Very nicely, done though I think some of your shots were clearer and better Warren. David and I are keeping them all for you to have when you get back to add to your travelogue film or book. Travels in old Gertie? Any way have another good day. Love Cathy

  3. Hi! Still no blog!. You must be distant from access or just plain tired out. Today I went to watch sessional teaching on biology: glycolysis. Luckily I taught it years ago. It was interesting to revise and watch. I liked the way they used IT and engaged the students. It was obviously exam revision on the subject. One class was good, the second seemed uncertain but did pay attention. I am going to a number of teacher retraining sessions before I start teaching again once I am re-registered in June I hope. Am training myself re drug calculations all over again too. Not too bad once I remember the damned formulas, I'm booked for another session on digital media. It'll be Chinese to me but I'll get something out of mit I hope. I'm certainly finding my way here and there round the huge campus. there's a loop bus that runs all day and picks you up and drops you where you want to go. If its going to be a 20 minute walk uphill, I take it. I walk to and from Uni-does me good, My cold is developing so must panadol and bed it going to be it. Have to write my methods and methodology chapters tomorrow and cut the first thing down to about 10 pages for my proposal and 5 for another presentation I have to do. Poster with notes on it I think: That's it. Well, Love to both. Keep having fun. I am Cathy J
