On the road again! The early morning mist hugging the ground was magic. We thought we'd make our way to our friendly Macca's in Velika Gorika, on the south side of Zagreb, and catch up a bit on our internet time. The streets nearby have been planted with spring flowers, and the tulips are most welcoming!
Then we started moving on towards Osijek, a town in Slavonika, a part of Croatia that almost believes it is another country! It would also put us just that much closer to Serbia, the next leg of our journeying. The drive was fascinating, through wide sweeping farmland, flat and fertile. We were amazed at just how green things are getting! Large fields of yellow rape dotted our way — Croatia is in no danger of running short of canola oil in the near future! This was a long drive, and we had no intention of making the whole distance this day. We ended up parking in a picnic spot, Odmorište Sredanci, just off the A3 tollway not far short of where we would be turning north onto the A5 and up to Osijek. The toilets provided by the picnic area were closed, so we had the added entertainment of watching people pull up, thinking better of it, and pulling off again!
