18 Apr 2015. <HR> Porec, Istria; Ravna Gora; Odmorište Dragnic (near Karlovac)
Today turned into a driving day. We shopped in Poreč, mainly for camping stuff and groceries, and then set off across Istria towards Zagreb.

Not much to report — a good drive, and we hit snow again round Ravna Gora, where we had had snow before, and where we again stopped off at a Marché restaurant for coffee and a bite to eat. The snow was a lot heavier this time, so we definitely wanted to get out of the mountains before we called a halt to our driving for the day!

We ended up in Odmorište Dragnić, a rest stop on the A1 tollway just north of Karlovac, about 40km short of Zagreb, where we had a nice, quiet, secure night.

Distance driven — today, 144 miles ( 232 km ); to date, 18,307 miles ( 29,463 km )

  1. Brr! Suzie country for sure. interesting the signs on the shop written in English. the scenery, even snow bound was wonderful, but Brr. We've got a roaring log fire going here and it is about 12. How do you cope? The lower country looked Swiss Chalet ish. I met Julia Gillard at a do at the Uni last night where she was the guest speaker. She is a humble person, very down to earth and seems to know just what to say to everyone. I like her and her speech was well modulated and excellent. We shook hands and i told her I admired what she had achieved even though I am Liberal. She grinned and whispered, that's a double compliment, thanks. Love cathy

  2. The log fire sounds wonderful. Julia Gillard may be a wasted talent!
