Today we left Ljubljana and pushed on towards Zagreb. Croatia, although part of the European Union, has yet to sign the Shengen Treaty, so any time there does not count against time in the Shengen Area. It was a wet and fairly miserable day, a good day for driving. We got to the border, and the border control was quick and efficient. It's amazing that, as soon as you cross a border like this, the countryside immediately looks different. Croatia apparently has a lot more forested areas — at least by the highways — than Slovenia and Italy. We pulled in to a highway parking area at Plitvice, not far short of Zagreb, and here's where we spent the night. Must say, we've been spoiled in Italy — the temperatures near Zagreb are about 10° lower than on Italy's Mediterranean coast. But your doughty travellers know how to keep warm!

Wet rainy and cold. The country looks almost like a stage set and as you say, very different from Italy. I think th the motel builders couldn't make up their minds. Not a lot of interesting news, just light plane crashes, road crashes, hoon drivers in Brisbane caught by the police helicopter in a spectacular bit of driving and a crash. Poldark has just begun screening here. Richie Benaud died. Essendon beat the Hawks and Freo beat the Geelong cats at their home ground to day. A few nasty murders, I have lost Word altogether on my computer along with all my files so will have to spend the day at the uni tomorrow and get the remote ICT boys to fix it for me. tomorrow. The Uni is giving all the studentss office 365 onto our computers free! So they can load that for me too if they've time. I love the way they can sit in their offices and just get into my computer and we can talk about what's going on inside my machine that way. I've decided to do a systematic review of my 5XXXXX women since there ain't one and very few articles either, Am doing a class in it next Friday. Wot fun. Catch ya, Love CJ
