1 Aug 2015. <PL> Warsaw, Poland —

We left MOP Niesułków with its Shell station and its Burger King — they seem to go together here — and its wonderful picnic atmosphere, and continued towards Warsaw. The plan was to get more fuel for Gertie, then get into Warsaw and spend some time at Macca's (for internet and coffee, of course), then shop, then find our way to a campsite we had found both on our Garmin and on the net — it sounded too good to be true!

Anyway, about 20km down the road we spotted a service station at MOP Polesie, and our plans changed immediately — a pair of Golden Arches topped the big pylon at its entrance! So we bought our fuel at BP, and then adjourned to Macca's for a few hours — we ultimately ended up having lunch there — their wraps are quite delicious, and not at all fatty!

Our way into Warsaw was characterised by canyons of sound barriers alongside the highway — good for the people living and working near the highway, absolutely impossible for any photography of the passing scenery!

We got into Warsaw. It's big, well laid out, and clean. We found a huge Carrefour store only about a kilometre from our campsite. It was in a huge retail area with many of the large stores we know from other countries.

Finally we got to Camping 123, aka Camping Majawa. The girl at reception was utterly charming and made us feel totally welcome. We settled in, right beside a little grey Citroën 2CV — but more about this tomorrow!

Distance driven — today, 64 miles ( 103 km ); to date, 25,033 miles ( 40,387 km )
