2 Aug 2015. <PL> Warsaw, Poland —
Today we decided to have a quiet day in, to do washing and internet and just catch our breath!

We promised you a story about the Citroën 2CV that was here in the camping ground. The 2CV (French "deux chevaux" — two horsepower!) was manufactured over the incredible period 1948-1990. The car was often called the "ugly duckling", but its afficionados proudly refer to it as "the duck". Well, it wasn't the only one. In the past few days, the 2CV Friends car club has been holding its 21st international meeting in Toruń here in Poland. It broke up only today (although a lot of them are going on a car rally to the Baltic Sea), but a lot of them are coming to Warsaw, and many of them have landed in this campsite. Most of the ones here are from the Netherlands, France or Italy. It's been fascinating wandering around, looking at these quirky little cars, and chatting with their proud owners!

For lovers of the fantastic, and of trivia, the 2CV was voted as the most popular James Bond getaway car in the 1981 film "For your eyes only".

Distance driven — today, nil; to date, 25,033 miles ( 40,387 km )

I would have spent all my time with the 2CVs and the variants that I have never seen in any publication. Magnificent automobiles.

  2. Funny cute little cars, but I have always thought Citroen's quirky, Especially the ones that rise up as you set off. I had a 1:1 tutorial for 20 minutes on EndNoting today, and can now enter my library of doco's. Yayy. I am at a crossroads in the PhD. I seem to be stuck in one area. Makes you feel like running for the hills but having done that a couple of times already, know it too, will pass. Have to put together about another half dozen documents for the re-registration. The professional officer and I are becoming good colleagues. She said she's wrapt I'm sticking with all the demands. Notice Russ wouldn't have helped with the washing! Glad you have the sense to rest up here and there. I'd be dead with fatigue by now. Glad to have had the virtual tour actually and not even had to carry bags or wash Gertie down. No more animals about in Poland? Apart from spectacular Storks. Oh well, don't have to show at Uni until about the 11th so hope to get much more writingddone. Blessings on you and travel safely. Love, Cathy and family
