Today we made an early start from the hotel and drove out to where Kay was staying at her daughter Gnome's house in Roslin.
With Kay, Gnome and her family we walked the forest path across to Roslin itself for a lovely lunch at The Original Rosslyn Inn.
The food was great, the conversation better! We haven't been with these people for so long, and the conversation just flowed! Gnome's daughter had a school-friend from Switzerland, and Gnome's husband Jaboury had been able to tear himself away from the book he is writing, to make the group even larger and merrier!
After lunch, we went across the road and a short way down a lane to the Rosslyn Chapel, a World Heritage site, and Gnome's local church. It also makes an appearance in Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code", which has made it such a tourist attraction that they now have enough funding to do more restoration on the site!
Following this, we went back in the car to Gnome's place (a lot easier than the hike!). Suzie spent quite some time with the family, chatting with Kay, Gnome and Jab, and being regaled with Alligin's Lego collection. (Antar was upstairs taking a nap, and the two girls were down in the field with the horses.)
But all too soon we had to make our way back into Edinburgh.
