Woke up to find that the view from our overnight stop was far nicer than the billboard we had noticed last night.
We went back into Burgas and spent time in Macca's, and more time in shopping — the Carrefour here is quite good, although its choice of fresh fruit and vegetables left a little to be desired. We had been hoping that the Carrefour store here, like its counterparts further west, would carry a full range of CampinGaz, but we were disappointed. We are still looking for a reliable gas supply in this neck of the woods — but we still haven't emptied our second cylinder (of 3) of GampinGaz, so there's no urgency yet.
We also tried to find a couple of laundrettes that came up in the Garmin, but these turned out to be vacant blocks or derelict buildings. Don't think we'll be relying too much on the Garmin for this kind of thing in future!
From Burgas, we decided to drive southwards (towards the Turkish border), and check out four campsites that came up in our Garmin, On the way, we were driving by the Black Sea. It was mainly hidden by trees, but its reedbeds came right up to the edge of the road. Good thing there's no such thing as tides around here, or the road would be awash twice a day, the sea is so close!
As for the campsites — the first two were on roads we were not prepared to risk, the third non-existent, and the fourth completely shut down. But, opposite the fourth was a rent-a-car site, also closed down, so we took advantage of its flat, and deserted, parking space for the night, right beside a beachside resort! While we were there, we watched a young backpacking couple arrive for the campsite, to be disappointed as we were. They went back into the township, so we hope they found a place for the night!
Distance driven — today, 67 miles ( 107 km ); to date, 19,923 miles ( 32,063 km )
Would one reallhy wantnto live in those huge complexes? I wouldn't fire and bombs are to easynto do thesewe days. A stairless place would be better-out tent in the bush, as David keeps threatening. Have finished my first ten research papers for review of antenatal issues. Get about 5 done per day. It's worth doing them thoroughly. They'll save me heaps when I am actually writing,
