10 Jul 2014. <GB-SCT> Lochcarron, Wester Ross; Kyleakin, Isle of Skye —
Warren went into the garden to find the bees were far more active — got a few good shots!

Kay is going across to Switzerland on Saturday for about a week, so we decided to leave Lochcarron, go further north, and get back here by the 19th, for the 36th Lochcarron Highland Games, to be held at Attadale all afternoon that day. Kay will be getting back soon after, so we will have more time with her and her family.

We dawdled about our departure, and it was past noon by the time we pulled out.

We went down to the village to have a last look around Lochcarron before we left. It's a pretty little village. Today was apparently washing day — at least for some — because there was washing hanging on lines blowing in the wind coming in off the loch!

The Skye Bridge
Wang had surprised us with a departing gift. He had booked us in to go to the movies in Kyleakin (on the Isle of Skye). It wasn't just the movies, it was for us to have a truly highland experience! Many of the towns are too small to support a movie theatre, so there is a mobile movie theatre, called the Screen Machine that visits each village on a regular basis, and tonight it was Kyleakin's turn. The theatre is a large blue semi-trailer which, once it stops at its destination (usually a carpark, but it can be any level spot in town), undergoes a major transformation. The sides move outwards, trebling the space inside, and the screen is set up in place. The seats are proper theatre seats, and the whole thing is really something to be enjoyed. We saw 'Maleficent', with Angelina Jolie, and 'The Love Punch', with Pierce Brosnan and Emma Thompson. A wholly enjoyable and unique experience.

The sun was setting over the Skye Bridge as we came out of the second movie. (Yes, sunset is after 10pm in these parts at this time of the year!)

After the movies, we adjourned to a viewing point just before the Skye Bridge, so Susie had one of the best views possible to wake up to in the morning!

Distance driven — today, 46 miles ( 74 km ); to date, 3,918 miles ( 6,316 km )
