2 Nov 2014. <GB-ENG> Ely, Cambs —
This entry will be rather short. We said virtually everything yesterday. We went back to Ely, but because it was Sunday, we now had to fit our visit to the cathedral in between services. For today's photos, see amongst yesterday's — we thought we'd put them in there to keep the narrative intact.

Our first pleasant surprise was that the car park when we got there at 11:40 was virtually empty — none of the parking problems we had had yesterday! The second pleasant surprise was that, because it was Sunday, entry to the cathedral was free. One little snag — the presbytery was reserved for a baptism until about one o'clock, but that was no difficulty — there was definitely enough to re-explore before getting into the choir, the presbytery, and the associated chapels.

Enough said. We had another lovely day in Ely, then returned to our Cambridge layby with the intent of going back into the city on Monday to retrieve the other photos we lost on Friday.

Distance driven — today, 15 miles ( 24 km ); to date, 9,466 miles ( 15,234 km )
