A day of frustration. Richard Hulin is having trouble securing the engine, and we have spent the morning at Macca's, about half a mile down the road, waiting for news. This, however, means that we have caught up on our banking, and emails.
2pm and still no news. Susie is taking a walk up the road — she really needs her daily constitutional. We're working out in our minds the possible alternatives. As a worst case scenario, Richard can take out the engine and send it off to be reconditioned, but this would take quite a while. We are still hoping Holland will come through with the goods — which would mean only a day actually off the road.
If Richard ultimately has to rework the engine, we will rebook for a couple of days after the vernal equinox so we can get to Stonehenge — although burning oil as if it is going out of style, the van is in no danger of actually breaking down — it's just smokey and lacking power! So we can continue touring until the van gets either heart surgery or a heart transplant!
Distance driven — today, 21 miles ( 34 km ); to date, 7,616 miles ( 12,257 km )
