We were going to go in to the Hospital de Tavera this morning, but when we found that the only part we really wanted to see was only available with a guided tour (which we really don't like, as they rush you past the things you want to linger on!), for twice the price we had counted on, we decided to go elsewhere instead.
So we walked up into the old city, to the Santa Cruz Museum. This too was nothing like we expected — but this may be that we weren't in the right museum — we'll double-check this when we return in late February. But, wherever we were, it was free, so we went in. This is a modern art museum in what was an old monastery. They've kept the architectural gems from the old monastery intact, and worked them in to the modern feel they now have for the whole place. It seems that they were between exhibitions, so there were only 5 rooms set up with displays, with the rest of the place mainly bare walls! But what they did have on display was fascinating.
There were a lot of photographs, but also a Miró lithograph, and one of the Andy Warhol Marilyn Monroe serigraphs. There were works by artists we didn't know that grabbed our attention — not a planned expedition, but one we enjoyed!
We then came away from the town (via the escalators we had now found!), had lunch in the van, then went out to Macca's and its associated retail park — Suzie did a little clothing shopping! We decided that it would be easier to go back to our car park in Toledo for the night, and to set off for places further flung in the morning.

Hi there again. !'ve been searching, but no Hams! And what a feast was waiting me this morning. I've glanced at that photo of Picasso before but not noticed the cunning array of dinner rolls! my first laugh for the day, but since it is just past 4am that's OK. Your blackbird songster makes me sad. Next door's little cat (Katerina) has hunted our morning and evening songster down I think because we are not serenaded anymore. He was lovely. The escalators look like a journey into the future somewhere, probably expensive. I have a session with my supervisors at 11, so am going to draft out the results of my Lit. Search into some recognizable form for them to ponder. (Geez! What a job that's been so far. And I gather from others it goes on to the end of the writing phase. There's such an enormous range and I'm collecting lists and lists of key words to play with. Sophie and I played girlies the other night. She has asked me to buy a moisturiser for my skin because it is getting a bit wrinkly and to drink more water too so they'll smooth out, like Botox I guess! we painted our nails, at least Jay came out and played with us and painted Sophies (Hee. hee). He's going to love his daughter. He has plans of sending Brydie out to work so he can stay home and bring up the baby and be the house husband, love him.! He might have a fun life if he did that. Personally, I'd send her out too.Any way my left hand has 5 different coloured nails, teal, dark lilac, emerald green, rose pink and royal blue. i have to ponder them and decide which I like best. Then I have to buy a nail polish and some lipstick too. So if I decide on dark lilac they're going to think I'm hypoxic. Nick and Merry have Sophie cavorting about in the finally clean pool like a dolphin now. She does running dives in nicely too. Her grandpa John responded to Meredith's request for a loan for Sophie's formal swimming classes more than generously (she said she'd repay him asap, but as he said, he's glad to finally be able to do something for her, (since she has never asked him for anything before!) Soph is loving grade 5 and all her new teachers. She's playing soft ball (Merrri's the coach) and going on with her netball again this year. She like sport as much as school work and she's got a great group of friends. i must ask Tris for some photos of Lily and try to get onto Jonno for some of Ashwyn too-guess they are both growing like mushrooms. Our little great grand daughter is going well-due later in June I hear. Anyway, that's all fer now. love to both and keep on! Cathy
