Today's the day!

Went down to Wynnum to have a "Last Supper" with the family at Tristan's new home in Elm Street. The two kids — love 'em — had obviously done a heap of work towards getting the house to rights. When I last saw it, only on Friday, the tiler had left his mark, with concrete dust all the way through! We decided to go with Red Rooster, so Tristan and Warren went off to pick up the food. It was delightful having us all around the table for one last time. Gemma — love her — had gone to a lot of trouble to make us a parting gift, a hand-made hanging with the footprints of both Lilly and Ashwyn. We will treasure it, and keep it close until we can see you all again!
After this, Jonno, Gemma and Ashwyn went off home, while Tristan, Jess and Lilly drove us to the airport (using our car, which Jess has kindly volunteered to keep in running order until we get back). Final farewells, then they left to rejoin Jonno and clan, where they were going to leave Jonno at home in charge of the two youngsters while the rest of them went off to the movies. All we had to do was check-in, have a bite to eat (not too much, as we know what you get fed on the plane), and then wait for boarding. All went smoothly, and we took off at 9pm. Must say, the Airbus is HUGE!!
We fly out at 9:00pm on Emirates flight EK435. Next stop Dubai, 5:20am their time on Monday, then after only 2½ hours flitting off to Heathrow getting in at 12:15pm Monday UK time — after 24¼ hours of travel, we'll only be 15¼ hours later by the clock — jet lag here we come! This is why we've booked in to the Londonears Hostel in Kensington for 8 days before we set off to Preston to pick up the van! And six days of just bumming around London doesn't sound like a bad idea!
