More of the same as yesterday. Must mention that we met and got into long conversations with Cassandra, an ex-Queenslander, now a Southerner! Made for pleasant travelling.
Suzie, the early bird, woke with the sunrise, while Warren slept on!
Took a photo of the train schedule posted in the carriage — just the part relevant to us. The red bars indicate time zone changes. The columns with numbers are, respectively, arrival time, time spent at the station, departure time. Helped us keep track of our journey — and to get an impression of how well the train was catching up on its lost time. (Turned out to be a full success — we got into Yekaterinburg about 5 minutes early!!
We were entranced by the number of wildflowers growing alongside the railway. Sometimes a blanket of yellow, other times a scattering of violet, red and white. Beautiful. Summer is a lovely time here.
Cassandra and we were met at the station by Konstantin. Turned out that we were all destined for the same hotel, a lovely boutique hotel situated very centrally on ul. 8 Marta — and we were even in adjacent rooms! (By the way, we have since found out that throughout Russia, when Leo Trotsky was disowned by the governing powers, all Trotsky Streets were renamed 8 March Streets, in honour of International Women's Day!)
